Cotes du Roussillo, France
45% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 25% Carignan
40% of this wine is partially sourced from the estate with vineyards plots located on foothills and mid-slope terraces. The rest is purchased fruits from local growers. 'Altitudes' is made from grapes situated close to the Mediterranean Sea, just 25 miles from the eastern Spanish border. This area is very warm but thanks to the altitude (600 feet), the wines have a nice mineral finish that balances out the ripeness. This youthful wine is an un-oaked blend of three local grape varieties: 25% of old vines of Carignan (40–50 years) which brings spiciness and dry herb notes, 45% of Grenache which bring fruitiness and roundness, and 30% of Syrah for the structure and purple color.
Pair this wine with Mediterranean cuisine, duck breast, or grilled red meat.
