Pinotage, a hybrid of Pinot Noir and Cinsault, was cultivated to become South Africa's first native grape varietal. Braai's vision with this single varietal expression was to create a wine that carries intensity while maintaining delicate aromatics. Polkadraai Hills in Stellenbosch provide the majority of the Pinotage grapes. The grapes are gathered from a combination of old and young vines. Pooling grapes from different vine generations lend to a more complex profile; younger vines yield ripe dark fruit characteristics, while older vines deliver spice and deeper dark fruit. This Pinotage, aged 13 months in French Oak barrels, carries sweet oak, mocha, and rich plum on the nose. The body is plush and smooth and coats the palette in berry preserves and velvety baking spices. This wine is perfect for your next BBQ! Pair it with grilled meats, venison, and poultry.
