From Dao, Portugal, this project was born from the will of three winemakers, Jorge Moreira, Francisco Olazabal, and Jorge Serôdio Borges. The wine is fermented in small stainless steel tanks and oak barrels and is aged for eight months with slight battonage (the French term for stirring settled lees back into the wine). M.O.B. Lote 3 flirts with the past, with its complex and austere aromas not falling into the mainstream of light aromatic whites that people have come to expect from this part of the world. The wine is imparted with a beautiful golden color by the maturation and richness of the Encruzado and Bical grapes. Its subtle aromatics are dominated by a complex bouquet of white fruit, herbs, and minerality. Luxurious in the mouth but then very well-balanced and long on the finsih due to its wonderful acid structure. Pair this with shellfish or cured meats.
