The prestigious region of Brunello di Montalcino enjoys warm weather on sun-baked hills in southern Tuscany. Sangiovese, the only variety permitted in this DOCG, takes on an intense bouquet of ripe black plum and black cherry. The wine spends nearly 4 years in large Slavonian oak barrels where notes of chocolate, coffee, and leather are added to the wine's repertoire. Sangiovese's high tannins are mellowed overtime for a palate that is smooth and silky. Il Palazzone is run by a fun, mixed group of Americans and Italians that know how to make excellent wine.
