Wearing a pale salmon color, the Domaine de Fenouillet Ventoux Rosé is vibrant and balanced compared to the richer rosés you often find in the Southern Rhone. It is a blend of 60% Grenache, 15% Cinsault, 15% Mourvedre, and 10% Syrah–all the components of which are direct-press except for the Syrah. The Soard family works their vineyards organically (certified), and yields are typically low –one of the reasons for the high quality and small production.
One can sense the concentration in this vintage. It has a focused rich texture, with strawberry and peach fruit, and an earthy dose of eucalyptus in the background. While dense, it has a light mineral finish, making it refreshing to drink.
