Greco
Basilicata, Italy
Greco is a less widely known white grape variety grown mainly in Campania in Southern Italy, the best expressions of this grape can vary from fresh and herbal to full-bodied with hints of stone fruit.
Family-owned wine producer Sterparo is located in a small village in Southern Italy and draws upon its regional roots to create first-rate, versatile wines. The estate sits at an elevation of 650 meters high, in close proximity to ancient volcano Mount Vulture, which produces soils rich in lime, organic material, sand, and rock. This medium-to-full bodied wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged in small French oak barrels for 18-20 months. Notes of citrus, stone fruit, and dried pineapple are met with a fresh minerality. Pair with fried calamari, pasta topped with calabrian chili oil, and Mediterranean couscous salad.
