If you’re a port drinker, you might recognize the name of this producer. The Symington family focuses on sustainable farming with minimal intervention and have been making port wines in the Douro for five generations. Not only do they currently own the largest collection of individual vineyards in Douro valley, they also own the largest organic vineyard in the Douro. In 1999, they began producing Douro wines from the same vineyards that have produced so many wonderful ports for the last 135 years. All of their wines are produced from traditional Portuguese varietals including Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca. This particular wine is made from a blend of Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Barroca creating a well-balanced red with dark fruit forward notes and a touch of spice. Pair with traditional Portuguese dishes like Porco à Alentejana, Bife à Portuguesa or cellar for up to 4 years.
