45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, 10% Malbec, 5% Petit Verdot
Simonsberg-Paarl, South Africa
Coming from one of the oldest Cape Dutch farms in Western Cape, South Africa, winemaker Klaas Stoffberg creates delectable wines. The estates first few wines were bottled in 2011, but now they have 94 hectares (232 acres) and produce 13 different varietals. ‘Nebbukadnesar’ is made up of 45% cabernet sauvignon, 25% merlot, 15% cabernet franc, 10% malbec and 5% petit verdot. Each of these wines are made separately. They are individually aged in oak barrels for 23 months and are then blended together creating a deep ruby red colored wine with velvety tannins and notes of spiced black cherries, blueberries, plums, oregano, thyme and a beautiful floral element of violets on the finish. This bold blend can be enjoyed now with a roast lamb with rosemary and venison carpaccio with shaved parmesan. It can be cellared and enjoyed 10+ years from its vintage date.
