Bodegas Bouza is located on the southern coast of Uruguay, near the city of Montevideo. While originally built in 1942, it was in 2000 that Juan and Elisa Bouza breathed new life into the estate and, alongside winemaker Eduardo Boido, established it as a leading producer in not only Uruguay but in all of South America. The Tannat used for 'Vinedos de Azucar' comes from a single vineyard, located only 7km from the sea, where it benefits from a cooling breeze known as the virazon. Full-bodied with deep color and powerful tannin structure, this wine is bold but elegant with concentrated flavors of black plums, cherry compote, dark chocolate, licorice and freshly ground espresso. We recommend giving this wine at least an hour to breathe before serving alongside smoked beef ribs, venison stew or portobello mushroom burgers.
