Montsant, Spain
Bula is located on a horseshoe-shaped appellation found in Montsant, Spain and that surround three sides of Priorat. Montsant originally a sub-zone of Tarragona, but due to its higher level of elevation earned its own DO in 2001. Monsant means “Holy Mountain” and was named after the summit that stands on the landscape. This blend is 50% Carinena, 25% Syrah, and 25% Grenache. Each grape is hand harvested from their 30 year old vines and aged for 4 months in French and American oak barrels. Deep violet in color, this wine has notes of cherry pit, dark red fruit, blackcurrant, and pepper. The firm tannins and long finish create a beautifully structured red wine, perfect for a balsamic glazed steak or a slow cooked brisket.
