Nebbiolo
Italy
This Italian winery has been owned and operated by the Grasso family for four generations since Giuseppe Grasso moved with his four children and purchased the land in 1870. Named for the Piemontese expression used to describe the best vineyard exposures, Autinbej also pays homage to the current owner’s late father. This Nebbiolo is grown on 15 year vines in marl, limestone and sand soils. It spends 24 months in Slavonian oak barrels before being aged in the bottle for another four months and you can expect tasting notes of red fruit and violets complemented by sweet spicy notes and a hint of cocoa. The winemaker suggests cellaring this wine for 10-15 years or if you would rather enjoy it now it is best served with duck or pork, topped with a sweet and spicy sauce.
