Husband and wife duo Andrea Balducci and Lucia Ziniti manage the San Biagio Vecchio winery in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. They inherited the estate from parish priest and winemaker Don Antonio Baldassari. Growing each variety on 30 year old vines in soils characterized by sand and clay, the vineyard’s exposure is to the south-east, facing a hillside. ‘Cacciabruco’ is a blend of 40% Malvasia, 40% Trebbiano, and 20% Albana grapes, aged in steel tanks for 6 months, with the Malvasia seeing an eight day maceration with the skins. In your glass expect to find textured notes of tangerine, stone fruit, and wild flowers with a sea-salt minerality on the finish. Pair this wine with lemon asparagus risotto or shrimp scampi.
