This organic family owned winery is located in the Douro region of Portugal and has winemaking records dating back to the 17th century. On the property they grow and produce almonds, olive oils and grapes, totaling 480 hectares in farmland. The vineyards in Douro experience ideal temperatures, allowing for long, slow maturation resulting in well elegant and well balanced wines. CARM focuses on producing traditional Portugese varietals, this bottling in particular made up of a blend of Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca and Touriga Nacional that was aged for 8 months in an equal combination of in stainless steel and in American and French barrels. With tasting notes of berries, dark cherry complimented by licorice and woody aromas, this wine pairs best with savory meats like veal or a boar stew.
