Chateau Pierre-Bise - Coteaux du Layon

The Loire Valley is home to some of the greatest expressions of the Chenin Blanc grape variety, in both dry and sweet styles, but it is perhaps the latter which has become the region's trademark. This Coteaux du Layon from Chateau Pierre-Bise is a late harvest style, whereby winemaker Claude Papin waits for botrytis to affect the grapes before harvest. Showing lovely, rich flavours of waxy fruit, honey, cream and toffee apple, this is a fabulous match to apple tart or fruit based desserts.
