Vines have been in winemaker Marie-Élodie Zighera-Confuron's maternal family for 4 generations. Under the care of her grandmother, and her mother after her, the fruit grown on their 17-hectare estate on the sloping hills of Morgon used to be sold to a cooperative. Marie-Élodie knew she wanted to become a winemaker by the age of 15, however, and after spending several years studying in Beaujolais, Cotes-du-Rhone and Burgundy, she took over the family estate in 2006. A firm believer in traditional winemaking techniques and in Gamay's ability to be elegant, complex and capable of aging beautifully, Marie-Elodie creates only 3 wines on her estate. While 'Mademoiselle M' is her most youthful wine - fun, easy to drink and intended for every day enjoyment - it retains complexity, finesse and intrigue with notes of pomegranate, raspberries, lilac, candied rose petals and baking spice, supported by fine tannins and a long, smooth finish. Enjoy with camembert cheese, classic roast poultry or seared salmon.
