Coca i Fito was started in 2006 by Toni and Miquel Coca i Fito, two brothers who are the sons of farmers and grew up in the vineyards. This certified organic winery lies in Catalonia, Spain in the DO Monstant and the brothers have a passion for not only taking care of not only the vines but also the environment and the planet. The vines they use range from 15 to 80 years old with one as old as 100 years. This red blend is made from 40% Grenache, 30% Carignan, 25% Cabernet and 5% Syrah from vines ranging in 15-90 years old and a mixture of clay, limestone and slate vineyard soils. You can expect tasting notes of dark fruit including blackberries, juniper and a touch of herbs and spice, making this wine a great pairing for braised chorizo in red wine or patatas bravas.
