Marsannay is home to a very deep and serious Pinot Noir. It has some similarities to its neighbor Gevrey Chambertin, but is a bit more polished and pretty. Philippe Collotte is a very quiet and hard working individual with some incredible holdings in the Cote de Nuits. The vines here were planted as early as 1947, though most are about 40 years old. The 2017 is young and though most people might recommend aging Burgundy, this is super enjoyable now in its youth. That is a mark of a truly great wine; something that is both ageworthy and can still be so delicious in its youth.
