The small, family-owned and operated Montirius was the first domaine in the Southern Rhone to become certified biodynamic in 1996! ‘Garrigues’ is a blend of Grenache and Syrah, and comes from the Vacqueyras sub-appellation, set apart from other Southern Rhone appellations by its varied soil types and herbal-driven expressions of these typical Rhone varieties. The name ‘Garrigues’ itself is a reference to the wild herbs that grow within this region, and is well-suited to the aromas of rosemary, thyme and lavender that burst forth from the glass. Powerful notes of dark plum, blackberry compote and blueberry greet the palate, supported by smooth but structured tannins. Enjoy alongside spicy sausage stuffed peppers or grilled lamb chops.
