Coteaux de Beziers, France
In 1905, the Vic family took over a 13th century chateau and created Domaine Preignes le Vieux. This historic vineyard is located in Languedoc, France on the old remains of ancient Rome. The current winemaker, Jerome Vic, discovered his passion for wine in quite an unusual way. His father would send him out to work in the vineyards as a punishment, but little did his father know this would cultivate a life long interest for Jerome. Now, five generations later, they are striking a balance between modernity and tradition (‘Le Vieux’ meaning “The Ancient”), bearing witness to the ruins of ancient Roman winemaking on which the estate is built. This rose is a classic blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Cinsault with delicate, refreshing layers of strawberry, raspberry and watermelon. Pairs beautifully with a summer salad – ocean views encouraged but not required.
