Chapelle St. Theodoric 'La Guigasse' Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a bold, rustic style red unmatched in its ability to develop Grenache to perfection. Typically a blend of Rhône varietals (ex. Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre), Châteauneuf-du-Pape lies on the west bank of the Rhône. Here, large round stones make up a unique soil type, one that allows maximum heat absorption. Heat-loving Grenache thrives in this region! Chapelle St. Theodoric is a 100% Grenache produced from a single vineyard site (or lieu-dit in French) of 50-100-year-old vines called "La Guigasse". These very old vines produce a smaller number of concentrated bunches that give this wine its intensity. Rich flavors of fresh and dried strawberry, raspberry and red plum co-mingle with inherent spice and integrated tannin.
