While the Left and Right Banks of Bordeaux are renowned worldwide for their red wines, Entre-Deux-Mers (literally 'between two seas') is located in between these two banks, nestled between the Garonne and Dordogne rivers, and is best known for its dry, crisp white wines. While white wine grown under this appellation can also include Semillion and Muscadelle, Dourthe's 'La Grand Cuvee' is made of 100% Sauvignon Blanc. With inviting aromas of citrus, green pear and lemongrass, this wine is refreshing with flavors of lemon and grapefruit, but with a softness that comes from its 6 months spent aging on lees before bottling and keeps the fruit feeling round, ripe and pleasant rather than overly tart. Enjoy this bottle alongside fresh oysters, chevre or asparagus risotto.
