The renowned Familia Torres has roots that date back to 1870, when brothers Jaime and Miguel Torres Vendrell built the winery in front of the Vilafranca del Penedès railway station. For the next hundred years, after visits from royalty, rebuilding after damage sustained during the Spanish Civil War and plenty of innovation in not only winemaking but in brandy production, Familia Torres began to expand their global footprint with vineyards in Chile and California and gathered acclaim from wine critics and publications worldwide. 'Purgatori' hails from their original stomping grounds in Spain, from fruit grown in organic vineyards on slopes of up to 1800ft in altitude in Costers del Segre. Expect deep, brooding flavors of dark forest fruit and blackberries with a hint of blueberry jam, underlined by notes of rosemary, graphite and spice. Pair this bottle with lamb chops with sizzled garlic.
