Marsanne
Crozes-Hermitage, Rhone Valley, France
While Ferraton's roots are modest, beginning with only .3 hectares of land in Hermitage in 1946, they have since become one of the largest and most prolific producers in the Rhone Valley (and have been biodynamic since 1998!). A beautiful expression of Crozes-Hermitage Blanc, 'La Matiniere' is 100% Marsanne, an indigenous Northern Rhone grape. On the nose, a fragrant bouquet of acacia, fresh flowers and golden apples greets you, while sun-kissed lemons, peaches and honeycomb wash over the palate. Fresh but with a pleasant creaminess, the wine leaves behind a long, persistent finish with hints of toast and almond skins. Enjoy with veal blanquette or pasta with herbed Bechamel sauce.
