Five families founded 'Sociedad Vinícola de La Rioja Alta’ (Wine Society of La Rioja Alta) in1890 until 1904 when founder of the society, Don Alfredo Ardanza and owner of Ardanza Winery decided to merge the companies together. Over the years La Rioja Alta, S.A. has established a sort of co-op of four wineries including Torre de Ona which was acquired in 1995. The company as a whole strives for efforts in sustainable and organic farming including devoting 16 hectares to 100% organically farming. Made up of 95% Tempranillo and complimented by Mazuelo, Garnacha and Viura, this red blend contains tasting notes of wild strawberries, redcurrants and red cherries complimented by a touch of licorice, vanilla and peppercorn. Pair with roasted meats and wild game.
