Giuseppe Cortese- Barbera d'Alba

This Italian winery was established by Giuseppe Cortese in 1971 after spending many years working as both vineyard manager and cellar master in some of the most prestigious vineyards in the Piedmont region. Today, the winery has become a family affair, with Giuseppe's wife, Rosella, and their children helping to continue the legacy. This full-bodied red is made from 100% Barbera grown on 45-year-old vines in clay and limestone-rich soils. It spends 18 months in Slavonian oak casks, creating tasting notes of red plums, cherries, herbs, and spices. This wine would pair well with game dishes such as venison, or a bold, red sauce pasta.
