Stellenbosch is arguably the winemaking hub of South Africa - some would go so far as to call it this region's Napa Valley - and Glenelly, with its roots in French viticulture and vineyards on the slopes of Simonsberg Mountain, has truly tapped into the potential of the terroir here. Their Estate Reserve Red is Glenelly's signature blend, combining Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah supported by smaller amounts of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Supple and rich in the mouth, this wine is bursting with flavors of ripe, dark berries, floral spice, shaved cocoa and a hint of roasted pepper. With fantastic complexity and a long, pleasant finish, this wine would make a perfect companion to smoky barbecue ribs, garlic sausages or spiced vegetable stews.
