The Guerrieri-Rizzardi winery dates back to the 15th century when the Guerrieri ancestors developed their own estate. In the 17th century the Rizzardi family purchased the Pojera estate, having no idea their families would be married three centuries later. Guerrieri-Rizzardi was officially formed in 1913 and they had their first vintage bottled and labeled in 1914. This winery is comprised of four breathtaking estates, including one in Valpolicella where only red wine varieties are grown. The clay and limestone terroir create optimal conditions for the vines, in addition to producing cherries and olives! This medium bodied red is a blend of multiple varietals including Corvinone, Corvina, Rondinella, Croatina and Merlot. It has tasting notes of dark cherry and black pepper and finishes with a touch of baking spice. Pair it with pasta with meat sauce or roasted meats.
