Arinto, Roupiero
Alentejo, Portugal
This winery has a history dating back to as early as 1467 and had many owners over the years before it was established as a family owned winery in 1991. Despite the rich history of the property and the success of their wines, winemaking is not the only thing they are focused on. Out of their 800 hectares, only 50 of those are dedicated to vineyards. Sheep, deer, ducks and rabbits roam the property that is also made up of walnut orchards, olive groves and even cork trees. They believe in rich biodiversity and a balance within the ecosystem which includes minimal human intervention. They also pride themselves on using organic and sustainable methods to preserve the natural surroundings and health of the vineyards. Made with a blend of Arinto and Roupeiro varietals, you can expect notes of citrus including grapefuit complemented by light notes of oak and a balanced acidity. Pair this wine with sushi or grilled fish.
