Kampta, Austria
The Hiedler estate was founded in Kampta, Austria in 1856 by Josef and Anna Hiedler with only a few vines. It is now currently operated by fifth generation winemakers, Ludwig and Dietmar. Each vine is tended to by hand and the estate has banned any use of herbicides, insecticides, and fertilizers. The winery sees an average temperature of 9.2 degrees Celsius (around 58 degrees Fahrenheit) making it one of the coolest wine growing regions in Europe. This Gruner Veltliner has lots of notes of white flower, yellow apple, pear, and herbs. Pair this wine with an herb crusted chicken with braised vegetables.
