Cote de Brouilly, Beaujolais, France
Beaujolais is often best known as a light and fruity wine, but when it comes from a Cru appellation like Côte de Brouilly, it's a whole different experience. The most important distinction lies in the soil found in these Cru villages, often richer in granite than the broader Beaujolais and Beaujolais-Villages appellations, creating a more concentrated, complex expression of this wonderful grape. Cote de Bouilly is also the most southerly Cru village within Beaujolais, creating ripe, darker fruit flavors of black cherry, blackberry and spice. With touches of toasted vanilla and velvety tannins, this is a wine with structure and power. Pair with roast chicken, cheese platters or a cheeseburger.
