Named after a hillside where cannons were shot off to announce the arrival of ships, Kanonkop produced their first wine in 1976 and have been creating beautiful wines ever since. Paul and Johann Krige are 4th generation winemakers currently running the Kanonkop estate in Coastal Region, South Africa. Each vineyard was well thought out and planned by different agriculturists. The granite and clay soils provide a firm foundation for the roots and promote growth by retaining water. This vintage had slow ripening conditions which allowed the grapes to fully mature and become concentrated before harvesting.This pale pink rose is 100% Pinotage and has a surprising amount of weight to it. Notes of salinity, spice, and citrus come through delicately with hints of summer berries and melon. This rose is super food friendly and would pair wonderfully with a seared ahi tuna steak or even a garlic butter roasted chicken.
