When crafting La Antigua Clasico, winemaker Alberto Orte had one goal in mind - to focus on an unexplored region of DOCa Rioja. The plan was to emphasize the freshness and minerality of the grapes from the western mountain range of Sierra de la Demanda (while remaining true to Rioja’s signature style). The vineyard sits at high altitude on red silica soils, resulting in a wine that shows fresh cherry, raspberry, and floral aromas with ripe red fruit, tobacco, baking spice, and a few gamey notes on the palate.
