The Luberri winery is located in the village of Elciego in the heart of Rioja Alavesa. Winemaker Florentino Monje along with his wife María José started their family winery in 1991, and have been creating beautiful expressions of Rioja Alavesa's unique terroir ever since. Their 'Seis' cuvee (named for the 6 month it spends aging in barrel) is a simple wine that is not simple at all. Florentino became famous for resurrecting and perfecting the traditional style of semi-carbonic, whole-cluster maceration of tempranillo that is historic to Rioja Alavesa and utilized in 'Seis'. Expect flavors of juicy blackberry, grilled plum and charred wood, medium structure and a spicy finish. This wine would make a perfect partner to smokey barbecue or manchego cheese.
