Andrea Marchiori and Luis Barraud met while studying winemaking in Mendoza, then traveled together to UC Davis in pursuit of more advanced studies before returning to Argentina. In 1999, they founded Viña Cobos with renowned winemaker Paul Hobbs, achieving international recognition by making wines that are considered by many to be a benchmark for quality in Argentina. By 2004, they began creating their own wines to share with friends and loved ones. In 2016, their dream of founding their own winery was realized and Marchiori & Barraud was born. 'Cuartel Dos' comes from the most highly regarded parcel within a single vineyard owned by Andrea's family, where the 50+ year old vines sit upon deep alluvial soils at more than 3000ft altitudes. Rich and velvety with decadent notes of cassis, black raspberry compote, cacao nib and baking spice, this wine is a perfect partner to smokey barbecue or braised red meats.
