Mary Taylor 'Filipe Ferreira' - Douro Red Blend

While the wine growing region of Douro in Northern Portugal is primarily known for its production of Port, it is increasingly becoming a hub for well-made dry wines. Winemaker Felipe Ferreira's property is located at the junction of the Douro River and its tributary, the Pinhão, where the grapes sit upon steep terraces overlooking the schist riverbanks. This wine is powerful with concentrated flavors of black plum, dark cherry and blackberry, as well as tobacco and leather, with beautiful tannin structure and a pleasant, earthy finish. Enjoy it alongside beef stews, braised venison or mushroom dishes.
