Bodega Fontana operates as a negociant, meaning they control all the vineyards their grapes come from without actually owning the land. Despite this, they are able to maintain an organic certification and sustainable practices.The wines in this line are named for The Mesta- a powerful alliance of shepherds in medieval Castile, who controlled the “cañadas”: traditional rights-of-way for migrating sheep. This white is made from 100% Verdejo grown on 20-30 year-old vines in loamy, clay soils. It is aged in stainless steel for 4-6 months before being bottled which gives it a crisp, clean body. Tasting notes of lime zest, green melon and a touch of fennel create an incredibly food friendly wine. Pair with grilled or roasted vegetables, white fish or oysters.
