Mont Gravet's old vine Carignan hails from vineyards high in the hills of the Herault region of the Languedoc in Southwest France. Here, the soils are calcareous with a sandstone base, rich in nutrients and minerals that are ideal for the Carignan grape. The result? A richly ruby colored wine with a lovely bouquet of blackberry, black cherry and figs and a hint of tobacco on the finish. It makes a perfect companion to barbeque, pumpkin and squash based dishes or heartier poultry such as duck.
