First established as an estate in 1267, this winery started its wine production in 1973, owned by winemakers José Roquette and Joaquim Bandeira. The Roquette family acquired the winery in 1985 and is considered one of the largest organic wine producers in Portugal. This full-bodied wine is a blend of Aragonez, Tricadeira, Touriga Nacional, Alicante Bouchet and a few others, all fermented together in concrete tanks, followed by aging in concrete tanks for six months. Notes of blackberries, black plum, and red fruits are met with a touch of herbaceousness. Pair with grilled steak, roast beef, and aged cheeses.
