'Montenidoli' translates to 'mountain of the bird nests' and is an apt name for this estate, which overlooks the picturesque town of San Gimignano with Chianti Classico in the distance and is truly an oasis of biodiversity. Despite being more than 200 hectares in size, only 24 hectares are planted to vine. Winemaker Elisabetta Fagiuoli is truly a trailblazer not only for women in wine and organic winemaking, but for Tuscan winemakers as a whole, with more than 50 vintages under her belt. Her Toscana Rosso is made of 100% Sangiovese grapes, and is rich in flavors of red plums, dried cherries and herbs, with touches of balsamic, leather and pipe tobacco. Enjoy this one alongside ravioli alla marinara or Florentina steak.
