Bodegas Ostatu is a family winery located in the heart of the Basque Rioja Alavesa region, focused on creating terroir-driven wines of high quality while employing organic and sustainable farming and production methods. The fruit for their Blanco comes from 30-80 year old Viura and Malvasia vines, coming from the villages of Samaniego, Laguardia, and Leza in Rioja Alavesa at an altitude of 580m. This wine is bottled without any oak usage, allowing the fruit character of these indigenous vareties to shine. In the glass, the wine is light lemon in color, with mineral-driven aromas of chalk and flint, complimented by stone fruit and white blossoms. Fresh and easy to drink but with enough complexity to maintain interest and allow partner well with a variety of foods. Enjoy with grilled vegetables, gazpacho or grilled, flaky whitefish.
