Chianti Classico, Italy
Fattoria dei Pagliaresi has a long history in the region of Berardenga, dating back to the late 1200s. While in the the 1970s and 1980s it was reknowned as one of Chianti Classico's most prestigious producers, changing conditions led to the closure of the winery in the following decade. In 1995, the Poggiali family acquired ownership of the fields, vineyards, and winemaking facility, however, and began the process of a true renaissance for this once-great property. True to the style, this wine is rich in flavors of red cherry, balsamic, dried tobacco and oregano, with powerful tannin and a long finish. Enjoy this one with fresh bruschetta, baked ziti or braised short ribs.
