When Petro Vaselo owner Nello Dal Tio first laid eyes on the hills of the Recas region of Romania in 2002, he was instantly transported back to his childhood in North-Eastern Italy where he lived closely with nature. He knew his next calling in life was to cultivate and create great wines in this unique terroir. The first 42 hectares of vines were planted in 2005, which yielded their first harvest and bottling in 2009. The hills of this region create a microclimate and weather conditions that are beneficial in viticulture. Grown in primarily clay soil, this pinot noir is elegant and complex with a bright acidity. On the nose, expect to find notes of cinnamon and red cherries, with a little chocolate in the mouth. Pair with beef wellington, grilled polenta with mushrooms, and BBQ pork ribs.
