Clare Valley, Australia
The Pike family have deep roots in the beverage industry. Henry Pike emigrated from England to South Australia with his family in 1878 and discovered a passion for brewing beer. Over the next 40 years the family carried on Henry's tradition until WWII broke out and the family was forced to end brewing operations and move to production of soft drinks and tonic. Finally, in 1971, the family entered into the wine business and bought 27 hectares of land in the Clare Valley. Today, the family has reopened beer production and has a thriving estate complete with a tasting room and restaurant. This red blend is made up of 84% Shiraz and 16% Tempranillo, creating tasting of notes of dark fruit, violets and a touch of spice. Pair this wine with a chorizo dish.
