Barbera
Alba, Piedmont, Italy
It was in 1994 that Loredana Addari and Nicola Argamante, a husband and wife team who both hold degrees in viticulture and oenology, decided to leave their home in the city and purchase a small estate in the heart of the Langhe. 'Corsini' is the name of the homonymous hamlet within Monforte d'Alba where the estate is located while 'Ruggeri' Nicola's mother's surname. The Barbera for 'Armujan' comes from 2 vineyard sites with an average vine age of 65 years. These older vines provde lower yields but much more concentration and complexity. The wine spends 18 months in neutral oak barrels before bottling, allowing these the flavors to develop and integrate beautifully. Blackberries, dark cherries and bramble give way to dried leaves and anise, supported by fresh acidity and ripe, soft tannins. Enjoy with pasta bolognese, braised beef stews or truffle risotto.
