In operation since 1899, the Santiago family farm traditionally sold the majority of their grapes to the large co-op wineries in the area. In 2009 Grandma Mariazinha decided the family should start selling their wine under their own label, and Quinta de Santiago was born. Dedicated to biodiverse and sustainable farming, "cuddle the nature" as Grandma would say, all grapes are hand harvested and vinified using native yeasts and all wines are vegan. Vinha do Pisco is a co-fermentation of Alvarinho & Loureiro selected exclusively from the special PISCO parcel located closest to the Minho River. After fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the wine is aged for 4 months on its lees for additional texture. Refreshing minerality pairs with flavors of lemon, kiwi, green apple & light floral notes. A wine made to enjoy with oysters or seared scallops.
