Quinta do Mouro was originally a farm belonging to the Zagalos family in Alentejo, Portugal. Miguel Louro was only 25 years old when he toured the farm and immediately had interest in it. Unfortunately, he did not have the means to purchase the estate, but fate had other plans. In 1979, playing poker with his friends, Miguel ended up winning a large sum of money. He had a choice: buy a new Porsche for the garage or purchase Quinta do Mouro. Obviously, he didn’t go with the Porsche! Initially, Miguel had challenges with farming and livestock and decided to grow his own wine. He began with 6 hectares of vines and is now up to 33. Vinha do Mouro Branco is one beautiful example of how passionate Miguel is about his wines. Made up of Antão Vaz, Arinto, and Verdelho, each grape is manually harvested and fermented in stainless steel. Notes of saline, lime zest, starfruit, and guava delicately cross the palate as you sip. This pairs nicely with pork chops in a white wine sauce or a summer prawn salad.
