Producing wine for over 50 years in the Alto Adige region of Italy, the Rottensteiner family prides themselves on being one of the oldest wine-growing families in the region and continuing the dream of their founder and grandfather, Hans Rottensteiner. Run today by son, Toni, and grandson Hannes, this winery predominantly grows their vines on red rock soil known as porphyry and produces 16 different varieties of red and white grapes. A blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, and Chardonnay, ‘Kitz’ matures in stainless steel tanks to enhance the fruity notes present in the blend. Notes of honeydew, nectarine, and pear are met with a structured, high acidity. This wine is best enjoyed as an aperitif or with simple dishes such as white fish and risotto.
