Pozzuoli, Italy
This wine is made from an ancient Italian varietal that derived from wild vines and was domesticated by Etruscans in 9th to 5th centuries BC. They were originally grown using the alberata training method, which is a growing system that Etruscans created using poplar/elm trees to support vertical growth of the vines. Only 32 hectares in the region are still grown using this method. The name of this wine translates to ‘30 rungs’ as a nod to the tall, narrow ladders that are used to hand-harvest the grapes. Fine bubbles and tasting notes of white tea, jasmine and meyer lemon make this bubbly an ideal pairing for fried fish or stir-fried vegetables.
