Protected by the Vosges Mountains, Alsace is on the most eastern edge of France. Close to Germany, one might think the climate would be pretty cold, but that mountain range blocks rain and therefore the region receives tons of sunlight. Pinot Blanc, which is an offshoot of Pinot Noir is actually more like Chardonnay than Pinot Grigio. These whites are always more medium-bodied with flavors of peach, mango and cashew. Excellent with seafood, this would be delightful with lightly breaded flounder.
