2022 - Pinot Grigio - Italy
Tiefenbrunner winery is one of the oldest wineries in South Tryol, Italy with a history dating back to the 13th century and even has a castle that is still in use today. Various families owned the property over the years until the Tiefenbrunner family assumed ownership in the early 1900s. Cristof and Sabine, the current winemakers, took over in 2000 and have been running the winery ever since, making them a fifth-generation family-owned estate. Tryol lies in northern Italy near the Dolomites and has a mixture of sandy and chalk gravel soils. This dry, full-bodied Pinot Grigio has notes of pears and candied fruit, this wine pairs well with fish or South Tryolean dishes like brown butter pasta.
